Patient Karma

Okay guys, if we’re to keep the cosmic scales balanced, y’all are gonna have to save about a dozen stellar human beings with very serious illnesses tonight.

Because my patients last night weren’t sick and weren’t stellar.

I’m not even sure they were human beings.

So… did you drop em off at the Vet on the way by???

You get posted to Cloverfield or to District 9?

You too? Yesterday I had a 7-year old with a pediatric Epi injector needle stuck through her thumb. Explain that one…

Testing it, probably. I’ve seen several EMT’s and EMT students make that very mistake.
It’s an easy way to lose a thumb.

At the Last Judgment there’ll be a proper triage. Until then you have to take what comes along, unfortunately.

Preach it brother …. It seems all of my recent patients have been afflicted with a large dose of emmyitis. One was even so bad that, even though she was sick (frequent TIA’s) she felt the need to over exagerate the signs/symptoms to the point she obscured the real ones.

Well, testing the auto injector bought her some significant pain and a ride to the hospital to have it removed. Not like her family had any money anyway…

Yeah…that can be ugly. The lucky ones have the needle go all the way through (lest they lose the thumb).

When we were using the BIG for IOs, we had a couple medics do that on calls…through the hand. Don’t grab the business end!
