Paying It Forward

For those of you who have contributed to the Double Wide Fund over the years, that warm, sunny glow you feel on your shoulders is the good karma generated by the taxi fare I just shelled out for a pregnant girl stranded in a bad neighborhood miles from home.

I couldn’t bring her anywhere but to the ED, cops couldn’t bring her anywhere but to jail, and all of her friends and family had apparently suffered simultaneous cell phone failures.

Of course, I could also be a $25 sucker, but weighed against the thought of what could potentially happen to the kid and her baby if I just walked away, seems like a small enough price to pay.

Atta boy; you did the right thing, AD. Be content and proud that y ou were able to help at least some.

I’ve been the money guy in several instances of that kind.  My friends say I’m a sucker, but it’s my money and my risk.  $20 or $30 is not going to break me and if it’s a scam they’ll get theirs over time.  If it’s not a scam, I’ll get mine over time.  It’s my choice, and I’ll risk it.  If the .gov forces me to do it, I’ll balk like a rented mule that just wants to go home and rest.  I’ve had so many blessings over the years that I’m convinced the little donations I’ve given to folks who asked for my help have added onto my Karma account to my benefit.  So keep it up AD.

Good karma will be coming your way, something good is bound to happen because of this. Most of us can afford little things like these, and I completely agree with Gerry.

Good for you. Your thoughtfulness will be paid back by the satisfaction that comes from being a sympathetic human.

    Kelly,

My wife and I met you and KatyBeth earlier this year in OKC, wanted to help get you paid back for this (and a little more). We’re that way, too.
Rather err to the side of helping than walk away when we can and when it’s OUR choice.

Somewhere in the Good Book there’s something about it being more about you giving than them taking (or what they do with it). Or something like that.  Anyway, I say good on ya.
