Found this photo on Facebook, and I was surprised at how many people found it sad:

Not sure what that image conjures to you, but to me, that photo says triumph.

Some of you may feel pity. Some of you may feel protective.

Me, I see a person I'd really love to know. I feel admiration, because I see spirit and determination that few kids with four sound limbs could ever hope to match.

Some of you may wonder how many times the world will knock her down, and if she'll ever overcome the obstacles life will throw in her path.

My guess is, it'll be just the opposite. The world better stay outta this one's way, because she's the kind that doesn't know how to quit. History is made by people who were too damned stubborn or naive to know that what they're doing is supposed to be impossible.

I guess it's all in your perspective.

I agree with you, I don’t find this sad at all. This picture tells the story of someone who has been given a life that’s different, and thinks, “I’m going to make this work anyways, no matter what the ‘right way’ is.”

She’s becoming a force to deal with, that’s evident from this one picture of her in her determination. May she find all she needs to make herself a great life.

1,000% Triumph! I guess I can’t use being 40 lbs overweight as an excuse any more.

I agree too.  Well said, AD.

The people who are disturbed by this young lady are the same people who think that government is the answer to all problems. She is an adaptable, and fighting strong individual is isn’t going to let anyone or anything stand in her way.

Somehow I can only believe she WILL succeed!

There’s no limit to what you can do if you don’t know that you are not supposed to be able to do it. That young lady will go far.

Makes me think of Heinlein’s The Cat Who Walks Through Walls
