Hey AD, I stumbled across this and was wondering about your thoughts on the matter: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100228/ap_on_re_us…

I've been following that in several EMS forums, and TOTWTYTR on my blogroll has covered it fairly extensively.

To make a long story short:

    1. The medics are not as culpable as the story makes them seem.
    2. There were other things not mentioned in the story, like downed power lines between the ambulance and the house, that prevented them from walking it.
    3. The Public Safety Director, Michael Huss, has his own agenda. He was a former chief at Pittsburgh Fire Department, and PFD has been trying to take over EMS for years.
    4. The blame lies with the entire system, and the lack of planning for a severe weather emergency. People should be investigating Michael Huss and the mayor, not two medics.
