Happy Blogiversary To Me!

Today marks my third anniversary of the day I decided to ape my blogfather LawDog and air my miscellaneous musings on the web for all to see.

That’s three years.

944 posts.

19, 474 comments.

1, 175,000 (more or less) visits.

And more than a few wonderful new friends.

Thank you all. You guys rock!

You misspelled “blogiversary”. But congrats anyway. And thanks for amusing us. :)

All I have to do is move my states a few decimal places and they are comparable. Yeah. that's the ticket!

    Congratulations.

  • piraticalbob

Hell, he misspelled “my” also, and that's only two letters long.

  • omnibusdriver

Any idiot can start a blog, but it takes perseverance, a healthy ego and a heaping tablespoon of cray-to-the-zee to keep one going after the first three posts. You fit the bill on all three counts. Congrats, AD!

Congratulations! I think its obvious that you've got readership like you do because you've earned it.

Speaking of good reads, what happened to your RSS feed, Wyatt? I don’t get your stuff on my Bloglines reader any more.

This isn't a personal attack on you, but a comment on political correctness in general. I have to object to your comments about “Why not the Christmas Edition, you may ask?”.

It's Christmas, pure and simple. Chanukah was a couple of weeks ago. Muslims don't have a holiday at this time of year (unless their moving calendar happens to fall now which is a coincidence). No other religion has a tradition of decorating a tree at this time of year so it's not a “holiday tree”, it's a “Christmas tree”.

It's about time Christians “reclaimed” Christmas.

Oh, and by the way, I'm Jewish. And nothing annoys me more than liberal political correctness.

  • Benjy

sorry, posted this to the wrong blog entry!!!

  • Ambulance_Driver

    I'm Christian.

However, this edition of The Handover was for the month of December, which of course includes Hanukkah and Christmas, and Sol Invictus for pagans, and Winter Solstice for Wiccans.

I'm not one of those types to just say “Happy Holidays!” for fear of offending someone, because as you know if you're a regular reader, I offend whomever I please ;) I generally say Merry Christmas to everyone, except to those friends who are Jewish (when Hanukkah hasn't already passed), or those I know celebrate some other holiday than Christmas.

I don't consider that being politically correct, I consider it being courteous. When I taught a doctor friend who happens to be Muslim to duck hunt, Ramadan fell during duck season that year. Every time I took him out, I fasted as long as I was in his presence, just because it seemed rude to be wolfing down snacks and hot chocolate while my friend was fasting.

And he didn't have a problem wishing me a Merry Christmas, either. ;)

    Happy (belated) Hanukkah!
