You’ve <>honestly<> had someone call the ambulance for <>GOUT<>?!?!!GTFO.I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’ve had bad gout attacks; attacks where I have seriously considered taking my Porter Cable circular saw to my ankle and violently removing my foot in a desperate attempt to stop the pain. But you can feel the damn attack coming on a good day or two in advance, giving you plenty of time to see the Dr. to get a scrip for Indo or colchicine. In fact, you’re much better off doing it that way, because if you wait until the pain is excruciating, it’s too damn late. How you guys do it is a mystery to me. How you can look at these mouthbreathers and not throw them bodily from the ‘lanche requires patience far beyond that which I possess. It’s along the same lines of why I didn’t follow the family business into law enforcement. ‘Cuz I’d be sorely tempted to use Sumdood as a skeet… ;)

How about what happened to me just last week: “So are you sure you don’t want to go to the hospital” after a fender bender, when you can’t actually find any damage to either vehicle, and the person has no complaints. If you already obtained your refusal, the paperwork is signed, everything is complete, for the love of all that is holy, get your newbie partners out of there, because when they ask that for like the 10th time after the refusal, the patient starts to think “hmm, my neck kind of hurts….can we call my lawyer on the way to the ER?”

Jay G…..Ha, I honestly don’t know where to start…I worked our villages ambu service for 11 years….was an ER nurse for 10 years (now work oncology)I’ve seen the same s**t, here in the midwest…AND its getting worse. One of my last patients in the ER was a young lady with an owie on her right great toe. Had it all day since 8 in the morning. Came in by bambulance at 2 in the morning (thats right 18 hours later)(she couldn’t be bothered to see her primary care MD)(besides that medicaid card gave her special privliges..don’t ya know) I had to cab ride her a** home because (naturally) nobody at home was sober enough to pick her up.So lets review:Ambulance ride $800Facilities charge $500Doctors charge $500cab ride home $25And we have elected a person that thinks we aren’t doing enough for the ‘po folk!??!!?Steve

OMG, are you kidding me? How can you NOT ask someone with a rectal foreign body how it happened? You know how it happened. What you don’t know is what sort of fall/intruder/shower incident they will concoct to keep from admitting they stuck something in their butt. You know how it got there. They know how it got there. In fact, they know that you know how it got there. How could you not ask if for nothing more than entertainment value on the way to the hospital?

Very funny! :) Been there and seen <>almost<> all of them! Point well taken on 3, 5 and 6. I don’t know if 2 has happened to me, but it sounds familiar! I’ll spare you my 1 story. Loved TN’s “whacker belt” comment. Thanks for the laughs! Key word: mennal

Having been the lucky “recipient” of torsion of the testicle, trust me, AD… if they can answer NO to the question does anything feel out of the ordinary down there, they ain’t got it. That dull, aching, excruciating pain (that, in spite of what the “experts” say about you not being able to remember pain) I can remember 35 years later is DEFINITELY out of the ordinary!!!
