Thank You, Veterans…

…for the sacrifices you’ve made in preserving the freedoms of the citizens of this nation, and indeed of many free nations.

Politicians may use you as tools, and citizens may often take you for granted, but the fact remains that American servicemen have bought the liberty of untold millions of free people the world over…

…and paid the price in their own blood.

And this citizen is eternally grateful.

My “brother” is a Marine over there on his third tour right now. I would never take him, or the military for granted.

AMEN! And why is it that kids (at least in FL) don’t get the day off of school? Your telling me they couldn’t have at least had a teacher work day coincide? All the stupid things they get out of school for and not this?

Nice to be remembered by so many great people, the Education system in Florida has bad leadership – but there are going to be many good people that will remember and explain to their young ones gathered around about what Veterans are and why they matter. May we continue to tell the story and honor their service.

Courtney–I don’t think kids SHOULD get the day off. I think that if you give a kid a day off from school, it is nothing more than an excuse to play xbox and gorge on sugar loaded foods. I think keeping them in school, while teaching them about the sacrifices of other Americans who have done what others were unwilling to do would be more appropriate.

You don’t get a day off for this in the US? No wonder you had no coverage on CNN today. I tried checking for it after watching the Ottawa ceremony on CBC . . . .Good for you, not enough people post about our soldiers. I may not be American, but any soldier has a certain honour as far as I’m concerned, whether I agree with their war or share their values. Anyone who would die and kill for us has earned my respect.
