Oh Sh*t…

…here we go again.

Come on now, Mother Nature. What did I ever do to you? I mean, every time I saw one of those old Chiffon margarine commercials, I was the kid with his nose pressed to the television screen, squealing, “They’re lying! It’s partially hydrogenated soybean oil and artificial coloring! Don’t believe them!”

If that storm track holds true, I’ll be working in the direct path or in the northeast quadrant when Ike rolls ashore, treating southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas like a surrogate Tina.

He’s gonna hit us again, and this time he’ll put some stank on it.

I am not looking forward to this weekend. At the very least, I’ll be on duty for an extended period of time on what would have been my weekend off, with the prospect of getting off duty after 3-4 days of continuous operations to go home and see what damage to home and hearth Ike managed to do that Gustav could not.

This is getting to be red-assing, tedious and expensive.

Crap. Crappity crap crapola.

Ain’t no hurricanes up in the Northeast, AD. Asshat politicians by the truckload, sure, but no hurricanes.Apparently a State house full of gaseous windbags keeps the natural ones at bay. Go figure.Hopes and prayers you’ll be spared…

Smile, Chief! Latest projections — Tuesday 8 am–show Ike going in near Brownsville. As a Houston denizen, a deep sigh of relief all around!

I will point out, AD, that in Ohio we have no hurricanes, nor wildfires, nor earthquakes nor mudslides. So, to summarize, Neener, neener.

I’m sure North Central Arkansas needs a good medic. With all the people retiring, I think we have more elderly Cajuns than Louisiana. Look at it as “job security”. We’ve had great weather here this year (outside of the 2 floods, 2 tornadoes, and the 1 record snowfall). Gun and bike friendly environment included at no additional charge!

Sheesh – hope you guys stay safe, warm & dry. I'm relocating from from Texas to NY in a few weeks and am driving up. Was going to spend a couple of weeks or so, drive the scenic route thru Lousiana and Alabama before heading East – I may be rethinking that plan.

Hey AD,I just recently started reading your blog (awesome, btw) and was curious… who makes the ambulances you drive? The only reason I ask, is because I work for an ambulance manufacturer.

I’d be cautiously optimistic. < HREF="http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/092814.shtml?50wind120#contents" REL="nofollow">NOAA figures only about 20-30% chance of 50+ knot winds making landfall, and the vast majority of that is Texas and Mexico<>. We’ll all get some rain and cool weather, which hopefully will stir the dove up.

Be glad you’re not in Florida. Or the Bahamas. It seems that every storm has to rip up the Bahamas before it decides which US coast to hit.
