For Those of You Who May Think That Guns Breed Violence…

You might want to check out Blue Ridge Medic’s blog:

“I opened the drivers door, got in and shut it. I put one hand on the key to start the truck and the other underneath the seat. When the door opened (I had a feeling it would at any minute), I was ready. It was yanked open and there he was, the same motherfucker that I just gave money to. I yanked my peace and stuck it about 1/2 inch from his beady little eyes. It’s amazing the amount of white that I could see. I don’t remember the color of his eyes, but I do remember the acres of white as he stared into the barrel of my 40 cal.

I wished I could have come up with something catchy to say. Something like Bruce Willis or Clint Eastwood would have said. But this is the real world and I am not afraid to say that I was scared shitless. The only thing I could say was “I don’t want any trouble.”

Guess what? He didn’t find any.

Had he not been armed, I’d bet it would have been otherwise.

Y’all know I’m a huge proponent of good folks going armed. Y’all KNOW that, now…But I have to ask:Why not use the fraction of a second that it takes to hit the doorlock? Believe it or not, it’s harder to break a window without something hard and heavy than most folks think.

AD, many of your links are to gun-toters, but I don’t think I’ve yet read a post about the weaponry I presume you carry. For hunting, or protection? I think it would be cool to read a story that would make your average West-Coast-Gangster-Actor-Rapper salivate at the caliber of the weaponry! (<>You know, the guys who brag rap about all this insane illegal stuff they supposedly do, but they somehow have PhDs in English from Ivy League schools?<>)

Thank goodness BRM had a gun.

I agree w/ Annie 100%. <>However,<> sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.FWIW, I do carry (S&W 915 and Walther PPK) but I also train in < HREF="http://www.kravmaga.com/krav01.html" REL="nofollow">Krav Maga,<>or Israeli Army Self-Defense.Why? Guns and paramedics don’t mix in the Commonwealth of PA.I had to explain once to my boss, Captain Idiot-Boy (a/k/a Captain Nepotism)that I could disable a perp trying to take my narcs faster than he can pull his piece on me.

I answered matt g’s comment on my blog in the comments section. I also agree with trekmedic251, I train in Shodokan Aikido, but I was hoping not to have to confront the guy at all, even though a part of me assumed that he would do what he did. Thanks for the link AD.Regards, BRM
